The detox is over and I have to say that I'm glad it is. The Flax Granola just didn't do it for me, and the soups didn't agree with my taste buds. I tried to like it. By the third day, I just couldn't eat it any longer. Now this is just me. There are many people on The Plan that like the soups and Flax Granola. This is not a review. Just my personal taste. I've read the book and everything Lyn Genet says is so right on and I'm all for The Plan. I love the idea of testing food and eliminating the ones that aren't working with your chemistry. I'm making this My Plan by following Lyn's guidelines.
By testing foods using Lyn Genet's Reactive Chart, from smallest to largest percent. I'll test the foods using my own recipes as well as some of The Plans. For example, since during the testing phase breakfast is Flax Granola or you can substitute that with Blueberry Pear Compote. You have to make the compote the night before and to be honest after cooking dinner I'm really not in the mood to make my breakfast. To solve that problem I made a Blueberry Pear Smoothie for breakfast (same ingredients).
Since I'm not of fan of the soups but I like the vegetables that are in the soups I'll just eat the vegetables roasted or steamed. Yesterday for lunch, I fried up with a little evoo a cup of brown rice (tested during detox), shredded carrots, chopped onion, and celery. Added a little of my favorite 21 Salute Seasoning and some grated Manchego cheese.
As I write this I'm on day 6. I'm down - 5.4 lbs. I've tested on my own hamburger (from a restaurant) and half the bun, no cheese and no condiments. The hamburger was so good it didn't need any. I could also taste the salt so the two glasses of red wine helped with that. I also had some seasoned french fries, and a dark chocolate truffle (it was my friends birthday and they gave us truffles). Earlier that day I had the Blueberry Pear Smoothie for breakfast and I had a the Carrot and Beet Salad over Mixed Greens with 1/4 avocado for lunch. The next day I was down. This works for me.
That being said I highly recommend the book. You will learn so much. If you can follow the menu, even better.
I'm on 2nd day and I could not eat the carrot soup or microwave broccoli. I dislike the slimy flax so I eat it with out the rice milk on it. Prefer to sip the r.m. to get the flax down. I'm looking forward to the brown rice. Liked the beet/carrot salad better than I thought. Would be nice with some pear or apple in it.
